Caleb Standen, LL.B. – Principal 

As a fourth generation Tauranga local Caleb cannot imagine living or working anywhere else.  That is why it is incredibly important to him to build on the good reputation he has inherited by providing excellent services to you. He enjoys advising clients on all legal aspects of property-based transactions (home buyers and sellers, residential and commercial investments, leases, subdivisions, cross lease conversions and more), business sale and purchase transactions, trusts and estate planning, business succession planning, estate administration and relationship property matters.

When not in the office he enjoys time with his wife, Anna, and their two daughters, Summer and Kate and their son, Abel.  Caleb is also actively involved with a local faith community (St Luke’s Church), and is a member of the Tauranga Trade Aid Trust Board. He enjoys keeping fit and surfing. When time allows he also enjoys fishing and reading historical novels.

He has chosen to base himself at Keam Standen because of the exceptionally good reputation that the firm has built within the local community over the last 25 years and because of the firm’s commitment to providing top quality services for a fair cost.

Robert Keam, B.A., LL.B., FANZCN (Notary Public) – Consultant

Robert is a Consultant in the Tauranga law firm of Keam Standen and has been practising for over 40 years, specialising in property and trust law. He is a keen tramper and traveller and takes an avid interest in shipping and Roman history.

Besides being a Trustee of Good Neighbour Trust, Robert served for six years on the Board of International Needs, a charity operating in over 30 countries.

Robert is married to Margaret, a teacher at Otumoetai College, and they have three children and three grandchildren.

Lucy Grace, LL.B. – Solicitor

Lucy graduated from the University of Waikato in 2012 and, after some time at a firm in Mount Maunganui, started at Keam Standen in January 2014.

Lucy is married to Caleb and their daughter Harriet was born in 2016. Lucy is enjoying her new role as a mother and, having lived in Tauranga most of her life, she is grateful to be able to raise her daughter in such a beautiful place. Lucy’s family is based in Europe and Caleb’s in Southland so most of their holidays start with a long (or very long) plane trip.

Lucy can help you with a variety of matters including property transactions, relationship property, estate planning, trusts and small business matters.

David Simpkin B.A. LL.B – Solicitor

David joins the firm after returning from an ‘OE’ in the United Kingdom. David was born in Auckland and was educated at Macleans College. He studied law at Auckland University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in History in 1999.

Following his admission to the bar, David has practiced law in Auckland, Hamilton and Warkworth, where he gained experience in diverse areas of law. These include residential and commercial conveyancing, subdivisions, commercial law, insolvency, estates, asset planning, civil litigation, and leaky homes issues.

David is married to Susan, and has two young children. If he can find some spare time David enjoys reading, gardening, movies and travel.

Andrea Macfarlane LL.B BMS (hons) – Practice Manager

Andrea is also a BOP local and joined Keam Standen in May 2016 as a part-time Solicitor.    She studied for her BMS (hons) LLB at the University of Waikato and was admitted to the bar in 2002.  She started her career locally as a Legal Secretary and since studying has had a varied career working in corporate roles in large Telecommunications companies in both New Zealand and the UK.  Andrea has recently decided to change the focus of her career and has stepped into the role of Practice Manager. 

Outside of work, Andrea enjoys time with her husband and young family, exercising and a little bit of retail therapy from time to time.

Barbara Reeve F.N.Z.I.L.E. – Senior Registered Legal Executive

Barbara is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives with over twenty years legal experience. She specialises in residential, commercial and rural conveyancing, refinancing and commercial leases and also enjoys assisting clients with Wills, Enduring Powers of Attorney, Family Trusts and gifting programmes.

Barbara is married to John and has two children. Barbara appreciates the lifestyle that living in Tauranga offers and enjoys biking the many picturesque bike trails in Tauranga and the Bay of Plenty.  She has a love of overseas travel and also enjoys Ceroc dancing and mosaics.

Raewyn Miller – N.Z.I.L.E. – Registered Legal Executive

Raewyn is an Associate member of the New Zealand Institute of Legal Executives and the current President of the Rotorua/BOP/Gisborne branch of the Institute.

Having worked in the legal industry for over 30  years, Raewyn has considerable experience in estate planning and Wills, estate and trust administration, Enduring Powers of Attorney and property conveyancing.  Raewyn was born in Southland and has worked in Gore, Alexandra, Invercargill and Hamilton before moving to Tauranga in January 2010.

Raewyn is married to Neil and has two children, Jessica, who is completing a Bachelor of Teaching (Early Childhood Education) Degree at Wintec in Hamilton and Mark, who is a student at Tauranga Boys College.  Her family is enjoying the wonderful climate that Tauranga offers, which is great for boating, fishing, camping and kayaking.

Christine (“Chris”) Bailey – Legal Executive

Chris has been a mainstay of Keam & Associates (now Keam Standen) for most of its existence, commencing as a secretary in 1988, in 1996 taking on the roles of Personal Assistant to Robert Keam and Office Manager and then completing her Legal Executive papers several years later.  Working alongside the Principal of the firm, Chris has become familiar with many aspects of the practice of law, including conveyancing, Family Trusts, Wills and Powers of Attorney and commercial transactions.

Chris has enjoyed living in Tauranga with her husband, Ross, for over 35 years.  They have two daughters and two young grandchildren.  Apart from her family, her interests outside the office include gardening, walking and she has a keen interest in travel and photography.

Chantelle Buysers-Dean – Trust Administrator

Chantelle is a graduate from The University of Auckland where she completed her conjoint law and science degree. Before joining Keam Standen, Chantelle was a general practice solicitor at a medium sized law firm in Auckland. Chantelle is Keam Standen’s Trust Administrator.

Outside the office Chantelle enjoys arts and crafts, keeping active by going to the gym and travelling around the country.

 

 

 

 

 


 

Tony Harvey – Consultant

Tony has been a lawyer since 1993. His core practice areas are residential and commercial conveyancing, commercial transactions and advice, trusts and estate planning.

Tony has been employed in a number of firms and in house for a large building company. He has also operated his own legal practice in Tauranga. He has a wide legal and commercial perspective.

Tony’s approach to his work is pragmatic, responsive and direct. He understands the need for good advice in every situation. He appreciates being able to make the most of every opportunity.

Tony’s long-term hobby is property renovation. He also enjoys cooking, mountain biking and his new thing, paddle boarding. A favourite family holiday retreat is at Waihi Beach.

Tony and his wife Kerry have extensive family connections in the Bay and enjoy the vibrant Tauranga lifestyle. They attend Lifezone Church.
